GRS Academy has begun training a number of new hires to work as Nursing Assistants at the GRS Spring of Power Center in Quinhuangdao, China. The 5-star, inpatient subacute rehab facility owned by GRS-HS (the China operations arm of Genesis Rehab Services) was opened in June 2016 to serve the rehabilitation needs of Chinese patients following discharge from acute hospital settings. Later this month, the facility will host the grand opening of a new senior living and nursing home unit to serve the needs of China’s large and growing aging population.
In preparation for the nursing unit’s grand opening, GRS Academy is training a number of new hires through its Nursing Assistant Certificate Program. The program will equip learners to provide a range of basic care--from monitoring and recording vital signs to assisting patients with ambulation, eating, and grooming to alerting medical staff about critical changes in patient symptoms.
While Nursing Assistants are a critical part of the interprofessional healthcare team in the United States, the role is relatively new to China. Spring of Power leadership is eager to incorporate Nursing Assistants into its operations to provide advanced staff more time to serve a greater number of patients; improve patient safety by reducing injuries and infections and identifying patient problems earlier; and enhance patient satisfaction.
